New Synchronicity Developer Suites Boost Collaboration at Each Major Stage in the Design Process with Hierarchy Management and other New Functionality
Suites Tailored for Engineering Roles Rapidly Implement Best Practice
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 19, 2001--
Synchronicity Inc. today launched four new Developer Suite(TM)
software packages tuned to boost collaboration at each major stage in
the design process. The Suites include: the SOC Developer Suite,
featuring an advanced Hierarchical Configuration Manager (HCM) to
speed large SOC development; the HLD Developer Suite to accelerate
front-end design; the Physical Developer Suite to raise back-end
design productivity; and the Standard Developer Suite, which bundles
the latest versions of Synchronicity's widely adopted design
collaboration and management tools ProjectSync® and DesignSync®.
SOC Developer Suite(TM)
The SOC Developer Suite boosts the productivity of those
developing very large System-On-Chips (SOC), where engineers need to
work with design data at the block as well as file level. The new
Hierarchical Configuration Manager(TM) (HCM), key to the new SOC
Developer Suite, is the first tool to support development in this
hierarchical fashion. Each block can represent any level of the design
hierarchy, from leaf cell through DSP core to the whole IC. Activities
such as versioning the history of blocks and the chips that use the
blocks, releasing blocks that have met validation criteria, and
packaging blocks for re-use can now be performed in an intuitive,
repeatable manner with the HCM.
The HCM lets designers define hierarchical relationships between
blocks and provides simple yet powerful interfaces to work on the
entire hierarchy of blocks as one entity. This inherent knowledge and
processing of hierarchy helps minimize the costly, hard to detect
mistakes of managing each block's design data independently.
Designers, chip architects, and project managers can ensure their
activities that enhance product performance and value are done on a
block within the context of the appropriate design hierarchy. Template
forms and use models further speed the roll out of the Suite and
implementation of best design practice for large SOC teams.
HLD Developer Suite(TM)
The HLD Developer Suite focuses Synchronicity's expertise in
design chain management specifically to address the needs of
High-Level Design (HLD) teams, from project planning to gate level
netlist. The suite builds on ProjectSync and DesignSync by offering
valuable real-time visibility into the development process through
pre-defined design activity tracking, such as Engineering Change
Orders (ECOs), Project Milestones, Issues, and Action Items. In
addition, an efficient data hand-off process, between phases of the
design flow, is defined to ensure the right people have access to the
right data as soon as it is available. A robust security and access
control system, specific to typical HLD user roles, is pre-configured
to help ensure your front-end design process is operating smoothly and
efficiently.
Physical Developer Suite(TM)
The Physical Developer Suite bundles Synchronicity's
industry-leading DesignSync DFII with ProjectSync, Synchronicity's
solution for team collaboration. The Suite also provides the
documents, sample use models and training materials to simplify
deployment in teams focused on physical design. DesignSync DFII is a
variant of DesignSync directly integrated into Cadence's DFII user
interface, with awareness of the unique file system behaviors specific
to the Cadence tools. Integrations with other physical design tools
are underway.
Standard Developer Suite
The Standard Developer Suite bundles Synchronicity's widely
deployed ProjectSync and DesignSync tools for project collaboration
and design management. ProjectSync boosts team productivity with
threaded communications, lifecycle and issue tracking and management
reporting. DesignSync adds secure multi-site version control and
release and configuration management.
"Our solutions have been very successful enabling many types of
engineering collaboration, but some customers wanted our solutions
more tuned to their specific needs at their stage of the development
cycle," said Dennis Harmon, president and CEO of Synchronicity. "The
Standard, HLD, SOC and Physical Developer suites are the logical
answer to that desire for more application specific design
collaboration solutions, implementing best practices right out of the
box."
Pricing and Availability
The standard, HLD and Physical Developer Suites are available now
priced from $4500 per user. The SOC Developer Suite is in limited
release now and will be generally available in February 2002. The
tools in each suite are available as options to current customers (to
add HCM to DesignSync and ProjectSync for example) and to customers
that want to use more than one Suite, such as HLD and SOC.
